Jack Be Quick on back-up from unlucky run

Trainer Kevin Kemp has beaten a bout of bronchitis and is sure his promising two-year-old Jack Be Quick can also bounce back from adversity on Saturday.

Jack Be Quick will be among the favourites for the PowerAde Two Year Old (1400m) at Eagle Farm after a troubled run in the $100,000 Sky Channel Plate (1200m) at the Gold Coast last week.

The Show A Heart gelding, who finished sixth behind star filly Aimee, got several mentions in the Gold Coast stewards report after being bumped twice and forced to race deep.

Kemp had no hesitation in backing Jack Be Quick up at Eagle Farm.

"I couldn't go to the Gold Coast because I was laid up with bronchitis but it wasn't pretty to watch on television," Kemp said.

He said Jack Be Quick had shown no signs of the tough run and had been "bucking his brand off".

"I think the 1400 metres at Eagle Farm will suit him. If we waited two weeks it would be a 1200 metre race at Doomben and they would run him off his feet again," Kemp said.

Apprentice Luke Tarrant will claim 3kg on Jack Be Quick, getting him in with 53kg.

"The top one (No Problem) has been racing well but he will have to give us five kilograms and hopefully the weight pull will tell," Kemp said.
