A meeting on Friday will decide if Melbourne colt Jabali re-enters the Golden Slipper picture.
Written off as a Golden Slipper contender and earmarked for the spelling paddock after an inglorious Sydney debut in the Todman Stakes last Saturday, Jabali's connections are having second thoughts.
The Todman Stakes was Jabali's first run for his new part-owners Eliza Park International who bought into the Mick Price-trained colt in the days before the race.
Eliza Park International bloodstock advisor David O'Callaghan says the owners are keen to give Jabali every chance to run in the Golden Slipper on Saturday week.
"We just don't want to make a rushed decision," O'Callaghan said.
"It is a Golden Slipper after all so we thought we'd give him a week to see how he pulls up before deciding."
Jabali is guaranteed a Slipper start in the latest order of entry after his second placing in the Blue Diamond Stakes.
Most bookmakers have removed Jabali from their Golden Slipper markets but the TAB has him at $26.
Blue Diamond winner Earthquake is a clear-cut Golden Slipper favourite at $2.10.
