Top jockey Larry Cassidy was distressed after riding his first metropolitan winner back from a hernia operation at Eagle Farm on Wednesday.
Cassidy showed he had lost none of his skill with a heady ride to win on former Sydney galloper, the equal favourite Cruz By ($3.80) in the Coke Zero Handicap.
However, after weighing in Cassidy was distressed and treated by the club doctor before standing down from his three remaining rides for the day.
Chairman of stewards Daniel Aurisch said Cassidy believed he would be fit to ride Saturday but would need to provide a doctor's certificate clearance.
Cassidy missed a month of riding after an operation to correct a troublesome hernia last month.
He resumed riding a fortnight ago and won on Impala at Kilcoy last week but Cruz By was his first city win since returning.
Cruz By, who was previously trained by John O'Shea, was having his first start for Brisbane trainer Brian Smith.
Apprentice Sam Payne showed he could learn from his mistakes when he steered Generis Heart to victory in the Drumbeats @ Lyndhurst Plate.
Payne had been criticised for his ride on third-placed favourite Lee Ho Fook in the previous race after he was shuffled back to last at the 600m.
But when the pace slowed in Generis Heart's race Payne went forward and sat outside the leader before kicking away to win by six lengths.
"That was clever ride and he obviously learned from his previous ride," said winning trainer Len Treloar.
Trainer Stu Mackinnon was the toast of bowls and golf clubs on the Sunshine Coast after the favourite Daisyodee ($3.80) won the Mater Dei School Handicap.
Mackinnon believes the mare, who is owned by a large number of friends who are lawn bowlers and golfers, can win over 1600m or further.
