Voleuse De Couers a firmer for WFA clash

Punters have matched the confidence of trainer Mike Moroney and jockey Glen Boss, with Irish mare Voleuse De Coeurs a firmer for the $1.5 million BMW.

Last year's Irish St Leger winner runs second-up in Saturday's weight-for-age race at Rosehill.

The mare has been backed into $8.50 after bookmakers went up $21 in first markets.

Formerly prepared by Dermot Weld, Voleuse De Coeurs finished fifth in the Australian Cup first-up this campaign in her second start for Moroney and the trainer has ramped up the mare's workload.

Her preparation has included a gallop between races at Moonee Valley last Saturday.

"The Moonee Valley gallop was the most serious one (since the Australian Cup) and I was really happy with it. I know Bossy was pretty bullish about it," Moroney said.

"We thought her fitness levels were good and we did a bit with her on Tuesday without doing too much."

Fiorente and It's A Dundeel are the two star attractions in the BMW but the pair were toppled last start in the Ranvet Stakes in what was billed as a match race.

An anticipated soft track adds another dimension and doesn't concern Moroney.

"It sounds like they are going to get a bit of rain and the track is going to be pretty wet," he said.

"So that's going to square things up a bit and makes it more of a staying test which would suit us," he said.
