Peter Moody will take legal advice before deciding his next move in his fight against stewards' access to his Caulfield stable.

The leading trainer has again voiced his anger at a Racing Victoria integrity department demand for keys to all stables at Caulfield and Flemington racecourses.

Stewards ordered trainers to provide keys by the close of business on Friday but Moody is maintaining a stand against the edict.

"I have had no request (to hand over keys) but there's a little bit of water to go under the bridge during the rest of the day," Moody told Melbourne radio station RSN.

"I'll seek legal representation. I'll look at it to a certain degree."

Moody said the possible cost could force him to comply with the stewards' demand.

"I don't have unreserved finances at my disposal," Moody said.

"If it comes down to dollars and cents, RV is bigger than me."

Moody resigned from the Australian Trainers' Association because of the organisation's handling of the matter.

The Caulfield horseman blasted his colleagues on Friday, labelling them "spineless" for not speaking out about the issue despite voicing their opposition to the plan in private.

"When I feel something is not quite right, I'm prepared to stand up and not run and hide like my colleagues," Moody said.

"I have got to stand beside these people the next day and call them friends but when it when it comes to going to war, there's a bit of a yellow streak."

RV executives will meet the ATA to discuss the issue on Tuesday but Moody said it would be too late because the deadline to hand over stable keys would pass three days earlier.

Moody said the timing of the meeting was ridiculous.
