Mull Of Killough wins at Newmarket

Friday 18 April 2014, 8:45am

Mull Of Killough has travelled the world but there is no place for him like home and he secured his fifth Newmarket success by defending his Earl Of Sefton Stakes.

The eight-year-old came to Australia in the spring where his best performance from three starts was a third to Salon Soldier in a 1700m Listed race at Flemington.

He was unsuccessful in the Group Two Godolphin Mile on the way home but held off French Navy to win at Newmarket.

"It's Mully's Motorway not the Rowley Mile!" trainer Jane Chapple-Hyam said.

"You've got to take your hat off to Adam Kirby as that was a brilliant ride.

"I suppose we take the penalty in the Huxley (Stakes) at Chester next.

"I think now he's eight he might not get as many invites overseas, but he's had a wonderful career already."
