Rizeena delights in pre-Guineas workout

Wednesday 23 April 2014, 8:16am

Veteran English trainer Clive Brittain has a third 1000 Guineas firmly in his sights after pre-post favourite Rizeena came through her latest work-out with flying colours.

The 79-year-old is confident Rizeena can join Pebbles (1984) and Sayyedati (1993) on the fillies' Classic honour roll.

Her gallop on the Polytrack at Newmarket gave Brittain even more cause for optimism as Rizeena worked with panache in the hands of her race jockey Ryan Moore on Tuesday morning.

Brittain is likely to give Rizeena one more serious piece of work ahead of her date with destiny over the Rowley Mile at Newmarket on Sunday week.

"She did some nice work over a mile up the Al Bahathri. We were very pleased with the way she worked and the way she came out of the work," Brittain said.

"Ryan was as happy riding her, as much as what we all were watching her.

"She will probably have one work on grass before she gets within six kilos of her racing weight and she's getting close to that.

"She's an easy filly. She goes out at five o'clock in the morning and never gets herself over-excited.

"She certainly fills your eye and is putting condition on, not fat. She's just where we want her."

Andre Fabre has confirmed Miss France will be a runner as the respected French trainer aims for his first win in the fillies' Classic.
