Owner Jan Clark's long association with former jockey Gary Doughty and his wife Kelly continued when Tears won at the re-opening of the Ipswich racecourse on Wednesday.

Ipswich had been closed since early February to undergo a track reconstruction and was given the thumbs up from jockeys.

Clark is a member of one of Queensland's most famous racing families and their colours of white with a black crescent have been carried to many wins for almost a century.

Jan Clark and her late father Jim Clark raced top stayer Starmaker who was ridden by Gary Doughty when he won the Gold Coast 1997 Prime Minister's Cup.

Kelly Doughty has been training for Jan Clark for about 16 years and they have had more than a dozen winners.

Ridden by Dale Missen, Tears ($8) made it three career wins when she won the Channel 7 Handicap (1350m).

Missen, who originally rode in Victoria and then on Queensland county racetracks, has had 20 rides for Doughty this season for seven winners and six minor placings.

Tears was the first leg of a winning double for Kelly Doughty after Arki, a $2.60 equal favourite, bolted home by 5-3/4 lengths in the Ipswich Cup June 14 Handicap (1666m).

Arki, bred and raced by her husband, will now be set for middle distance races in coming weeks.

Another Gold Coast trainer, Gillian Heinrich, also continued a good association with now defunct sire All Bar One when Clever One ($4) won the XXXX Gold Handicap.

Heinrich trained All Bar One to win the Group Two Victory Stakes and has raced many of the stallion's offspring since his short stud career.

Jockey Chris Munce and trainer Bevan Laming continued their long association when Rocbolt, the $2.60 favourite, came from second last to win the Sky Racing World Handicap (1500m).

Munce, who twice won the Brisbane Cup on Desert Chill for Laming, predicted a bright middle-distance future for Rocbolt.
