Racing Victoria stewards have lowered the limit weight at which champion jumps jockey Steven Pateman can accept rides in time for next week's Warrnambool carnival.
Stewards banned Pateman from accepting rides below 67.5kg after he failed to fulfil two commitments at Sandown on April 9, which was his 32nd weight-related offence.
The limit cost Pateman the ride on Great Eastern Steeplechase winner Lord Of The Song who carried 67kg to victory at Oakbank on Easter Monday.
Pateman has worked with a dietician to address his weight issues.
Dr Melissa Arkinstall of Exercise Research Australia recommended stewards reduce Pateman's limit weight to 67kg on Thursday.
"With the skin fold tests and the body fat tests, she (Arkinstall) can get another half a kilogram off him," deputy chief steward Rob Montgomery said.
Montgomery said Pateman's limit would remain at 67kg for the next eight weeks before a further review of the situation.
Pateman has accepted four rides at Tuesday's opening day of the Warrnambool carnival.
Pateman has rides in all three divisions of the maiden hurdle in which all horses carry 68kg while he will ride Palmero at 69kg in the Brierly Steeplechase.
