Gullible doesn't share the explosive pace of older sibling Rain Affair but she has still managed to impress jockey Corey Brown with her maiden win at Hawkesbury.

The Chris Waller-trained filly, a half-sister to multiple Group winning sprinter Rain Affair, got the better of another well-related stablemate in Presslist to win Wednesday's Penrith Air Supply - Brivis Maiden Plate (1300m).

"She's a nice horse but she still doesn't know much yet," Brown said.

"She'll probably go to the paddock now and next time in, the further she goes the better she'll get."

He said the filly wasn't like Rain Affair who is known for his speed and bold frontrunning style.

"She isn't as quick-witted as Rain Affair either," Brown said.

Waller believes Gullible and Presslist, a half-sister to Group One winner Pressday, will improve with time.

"I think next preparation they'll be very handy horses," Waller said.

Grahame Begg is also looking to give improving mare Bugaboo a break after the four-year-old made it two midweek city wins on the trot in the Holcim Concrete Handicap (1800m).

The Group Two Emancipation Stakes (1600m) at Randwick next autumn is a possible target.

"She's been a horse we've always had a very big opinion of but she's had a lot of niggling problems and she's just starting to put it all together now," Begg said.

"I might give her a bit of a break now because we think she might be able to go on a bit next year."

Lee Freedman, meanwhile, is looking towards the Group Three Summer Cup (2400m) next month with Ward who won over 2000m on the Hawkesbury program.

Freedman and Graeme Rogerson officially began their training partnership in May and Ward has raced seven times since then for three wins and three seconds.

"He's been a terrific little stalwart for a small stable," Freedman said.

"I think there's more to come from him, particularly over a mile-and-a-half (2400m).

"He might have another run in open grade and then run in the Summer Cup if he's showing enough ability."

Peter Robl's afternoon was soured when he was given a six meeting careless riding suspension for his effort aboard Glamour Rock in the fifth race at Hawkesbury.

He plans to appeal the penalty, which is due to begin on Monday and expire on December 2.

"I will be appealing first thing in the morning," Robl said.
