Sistine Demon saved for G1 Goodwood start

Wednesday 30 April 2014, 4:37pm

Sistine Demon will bypass a Listed race at Caulfield on Saturday to shoot for a bigger win in Adelaide in the Group One Goodwood a week later.

Sistine Demon, winner of seven of his past eight starts, was nominated for Saturday's Listed Thoroughbred Club Cup (1440m) at Caulfield but was not an acceptor on Wednesday.

Trainer Andrew Noblet said the gelding would run in The Goodwood (1200m) at Morphettville on May 10.

A last-start winner of the Group Three Victoria Handicap by six lengths, Sistine Demon is on the second line of betting for The Goodwood after the release of nominations.

"We're going to head across there and then he'll have a short break and get ready for the spring," Noblet said.

Dany The Fox, meanwhile, has been installed favourite for Saturday's Thoroughbred Club Cup at Caulfield ahead of the Anthony Freedman-trained Reparations.

The Caulfield race will feature the return of Group One winner Brambles who has been off the scene because of a tendon injury.

The five-year-old has not raced since his victory in the Queensland Derby in 2012.
