800 Happy Owners cheer MOSSBEAT home

Thursday 1 May 2014, 4:20pm

Hancox Racing No.6.Ltd’s first runner Mossbeat stormed home from near last to win the 1000m 2YO race on the first day of the Warrnambool carnival.

It was a great pay day for the petite Mossman filly who earned over  $58,000 in prizemoney and Super Vobis  bonus money  for her effort in the heavy track.

Hancox Bloodstock bought  Mossbeat for  $26,000  at the Inglis Premier 11 Sale in 2013 and packaged her up with five other youngsters for their sixth 800 share Racing Club, Hancox Racing No.6.Ltd.

She is the first runner for this group and was placed at Sandown and Caulfield at her previous two outings.  “Robbie Griffiths has done a great job with the filly and veteran jockey Ivan Culliver has ridden her well at all her starts.” Said Racing No.6. Manager Rod Peacock.

The group are looking forward to plenty of racing action with Mossbeat and their other 2YO’s which include a good style of Show A Heart colt called Heart Of Thunder in Brisbane with Barry Baldwin, a smart looking half brother to Villa Verde named Free On Saturday trained by Greg Eurell at Cranbourne  and a staying type by Blevic, called Full Swing who is in Adelaide with David Jolly.

“This is a really cost effective  way for new owners  to have a lot of fun as they pay only $1200 for their 1/800 share with no ongoing costs. At the end of three years their dividend includes the prizemoney the horses have earned and whatever they have made when onsold plus bank interest on money which has been on fixed deposit during the life of the club.” Shelley Hancox added.

“This is our sixth fully subscribed 800 share Racing Club and we will probably do our next one in 2015” said Rod Peacock. “However to do them properly and keep  the communication at a really good level is time consuming so it is basically an every other year assignment.”
