Gary Portelli is optimistic All The Talk will prove himself to be aptly named when he makes his debut at Rosehill on Saturday.

All The Talk, a Stratum two-year-old out of Weekend Gossip, heads to the races for the first time in the 2013 ATC Membership On Sale Now Handicap (1100m) with Portelli hoping the youngster confirms his belief that he is worthy of being set for an autumn carnival campaign.

"We're hoping he's definitely `All The Talk' after the race on Saturday," the trainer said.

All The Talk stepped out in a recent barrier trial and finished 3-1/2 lengths behind one of his Rosehill rivals in the Gerald Ryan-trained Charlie Boy.

Portelli is hoping to turn the tables on Saturday and says the race is likely to shape his immediate plans for All The Talk.

"He's a promising colt that has shown me plenty of ability at home and I'm looking forward to the weekend to see what he can do first time out," Portelli said.

"I haven't mapped out a program for him at this stage, but I think it's going to be a pretty strong race on Saturday from what I've seen at the trials from the horse of Gai Waterhouse's (Windjammer) and the horse of Gerald Ryan's (Charlie Boy).

"If he can beat them then I'll be seriously looking at the autumn with him and some of the races leading into the (Golden) Slipper.

"(Charlie Boy) was having his second trial, he showed blistering speed and looks a very smart horse. If we can beat him I think we're heading in the right direction."

Windjammer, a 3-1/2 length barrier trial winner, is a slight favourite with TAB fixed odds at $1.90 ahead of Charlie Boy at $2.10.

Artistic Lass is the only other runner under double figure odds at $9.50 with All the Talk at $13.

While Portelli is looking forward to All The Talk's debut he says his other Rosehill entrant, Miss Spoken, will be scratched due to illness.

Miss Spoken was considered a genuine chance in the Sportsyear Handicap (1350m) in which first-up winner Princess Layla is the early favourite.
