South Australian three-year-old Kushadasi has claimed his home town Derby in a desperate finish, edging out Victorian filly Scratchy Bottom.
Trained by Richard Jolly, Kushadasi was steered down the middle of the track by Steven Arnold after early leader Order Of The Sun weakened in the straight.
At the end of Saturday's 2500m Classic there was just a nose between the winner and the Mick Kent-trained Scratchy Bottom who stuck to the rails.
Sydney visitor Best Case was another half length third for trainer Anthony Cummings just in front of Gamblin' Guru.
While the Derby was the feature on the Morphettville program, the Group Two Sportingbet Stakes (1200m) provided perhaps the most popular result when Miracles Of Life won her first race since the 2013 Blue Diamond Stakes.
The three-year-old filly is catalogued for public auction next month as part of a dispersal of Teeley Assets bloodstock.
But her trainer Dan Clarken said it might not be the last time he saddled her up with next week's Group One Goodwood a possibility after her return to winning form.
Clarken said as long as the filly came through the race well she would back up in the sprint.
Ridden by Dean Yendall, Miracles Of Life powered home to record her fifth win from 11 starts.
Her win brought up a double for the Victorian jockey who earlier steered the Mick Price-trained Cailin Miss to take out the Listed Oaklands Plate (1600m).
Price believes Cailin Miss can be a genuine contender for the VRC Oaks in the spring.
