Apprentice Jamie Kah has the chance to lift her career to another level in Saturday's Group One Goodwood at Morphettville.
Kah has enjoyed a rapid rise through the riding ranks, winning last season's Adelaide jockeys' title before outriding her claim in Melbourne last month.
Kah will make her Group One debut aboard the Andrew Noblet-trained Sistine Demon in Adelaide's premier sprint.
A meeting between Noblet and the rest of Sistine Demon's owners in Adelaide last week resolved to keep the partnership between Kah and the in-form galloper intact.
Kah's two previous rides on Sistine Demon have resulted in wins by a combined nine lengths to give the 18-year-old a great hope of recording a memorable win in her home town.
"It's pretty exciting for me and the ride has come at a great time," Kah said.
"All my family will be at the track so it will be great."
Riding instructions will simplify Kah's quest for a maiden Group One win aboard the noted leader Sistine Demon.
Sistine Demon will drop back from the 1400m of his last-start win in the Group Three Victoria Handicap to the 1200m of the Goodwood but Kah is confident the four-year-old will be sharp enough to handle the shorter trip.
"We'll just try to do the same as last time but if he's keen, I'll just slip him a little bit more rein," Kah said.
From the Adelaide Hills, Kah began her apprenticeship with John MacMillan before moving to the Mick Price stable in Melbourne on a three-month loan.
Kah outrode her claim when she won the Victoria Handicap aboard Sistine Demon on April 19 following a successful stint in Singapore.
She rode two winners in Singapore where she spent three weeks as part of her prize for being the dux of the South Australian Apprentice Academy.
South Australian rules allow Kah to end her apprenticeship at the end of the season if she desires but the jockey has not decided her next move.
A win in the Goodwood would give Kah plenty to think about.
