Champion jockey Robert Thompson rode his 4000th winner on Saturday while another country-based hoop achieved a rare feat to much less fanfare.
Rockhampton jockey Adrian Coome became the first to ride 100 winners in Queensland for 2013-2014 with a double at Mackay on Saturday.
Coome, who is the regular rider of bush star Our Boy Malachi, finished the day with 100-1/2 winners to maintain an eight-win lead over Brisbane jockey Michael Cahill.
He has had 499 rides this season to give him a win strike rate of 20.14 per cent.
Cahill, who also rode a Gold Coast winner on Dances With Stars on Saturday, is on 92 winners and also looks certain to pass 100 for the second year in a row.
He has also ridden two interstate winners.
Coome and Cahill have staged a competitive battle in the past two seasons to see who can ride the most winners in Queensland.
In the 2012-13 season, Coome (132 winners) was runner-up in to Cahill who had 151 wins.
But it was an impressive season for Coome, 24, who won the premierships in Rockhampton, Mackay and Gladstone.
Coome, who has 464 career wins, tried his luck in Brisbane in recent years but is content to keep to the Queensland provincial scene.
