Connections of promising stayers Mr O'Ceirin and Akzar have paid a late entry fee for the Group One Doomben Cup after missing Wednesday's first acceptance deadline.
The owners of Angel Of Mercy, who also missed the acceptance deadline, are 90 per cent certain to also pay the late fee.
Under Racing Queensland rules, connections of any horse not among the first acceptances must come up with a $23,100 late fee by May 14 in order for their horse to run in the $500,000 feature three days later.
However, Racing Queensland has decided to halve that fee to $11,550 in this instance.
Brisbane Race Club racing manager Bart Sinclair confirmed that connections of Akzar and Mr O'Ceirin had paid the revised late nomination fee.
He said Angel Of Mercy's trainer Gerald Ryan would consult with the mare's owners before making a decision but indicated he was leaning towards a start.
Only 10 horses were originally among the first acceptances for the Cup which has been won by some of Australasia's most famous horses including Bernborough, Might And Power, Winfreux, and Rough Habit.
Guy Walter's mare Streama, who heads betting for the Cup, was an acceptor as were Chris Waller's pair of Junoob and Moriarty.
Hawkesbury Cup winner Leebaz was also paid up for on Wednesday.
