With Damien Oliver interstate chasing Group One success, James Winks will be out of make the most of a Flemington opportunity on Black Caviar's half-sister Belle Couture.
Winks will partner the younger sibling of the champion mare in Saturday's Spotless Plate (1200m).
The high-profile filly posted her first victory at Caulfield last month in her second start and is joint favourite to win again as she steps up in class at Flemington.
"Obviously she's going to be the main focus of the day. Everybody knows the bloodlines she has got," Winks said.
"I've been fortunate enough to have had probably three rides on her, just galloping her at home, so I know what she's like and she's going well."
Winks admits a win would create good publicity as he strives to build momentum in Melbourne racing before the spring carnival, but the Group One-winning rider says he will approach the race as normal.
Winks said the Danny O'Brien-trained Belle Couture had a good temperament and does everything right, but had also struck a good off-season race.
Belle Couture shares favouritism with the David Hayes-trained Nicamorae who has won at Wangaratta and Flemington at her past two starts.
"She's drawn perfect for the straight just in the middle there," he said.
"She'll probably just get cuddled up and hopefully she can explode when we need her to."
Oliver has ridden Belle Couture in her two starts but will be at Morphettville on Saturday where his rides include Unpretentious in the Group One Goodwood.
Winks said Oliver had already given him advice about Belle Couture, who came from back in the field to win at Caulfield.
A former stable rider for O'Brien, four of Winks' six Flemington rides are for his ex-boss.
