Delago Deluxe – Standing his second season at Newhaven Park for $11,000 Delago Deluxe will enter his second season at Newhaven Park at the same fee of $11,000 (incl GST) offering breeders exceptional value for money. Delago Deluxe, by Northern Meteor’s sire Encosta De Lago, was an explosive sprinter and was unbeaten in his 4 starts as a 2YO, winning a Gr 3, a Gr 2 (now classified as a Gr 1) and the Gr 1 Gold Medallion over 1200m. His 3YO campaign saw him win the time honoured Gr 1 Golden Horse Casino Sprint over 1200m, equivalent to Australia’s Newmarket Handicap and second to What a Winter in the Gr 1 Mercury Sprint winning a total of 7 races from 12 starts. “He has let down into a magnificent looking horse and if his stock share his good looks and ability as we anticipate, breeders will be very happy,” said John Kelly.

“He covered 111 mares last year which will give him every opportunity to succeed and we can’t wait to see his first foals. The two Gr 1’s he won in South Africa are the equivalent to Australia’s Golden Slipper and Newmarket Handicap and for Australian breeders to be able to access Delago Deluxe at a fee of $11,000 gives them an unrivalled opportunity to breed a quality horse and make a fantastic return”.

Delago Deluxe (Encosta De Lago x Succeeding)

While Northern Meteor’s stud career was cut short due to his tragic premature death last year, he has three sire sons off to stud this season in Zoustar, Fighting Sun and Eurozone, highlighting the strength and commercial appeal of the Encosta De Lago sireline. Delago Deluxe has equal or superior race performances to all of them in South Africa where he was the Champion 2YO Colt of his year in winning all four starts as a juvenile. Delago Deluxe comes from an outstanding female family being closely related to Group I winners Duporth and Excites, not to mention Group II winner Tickets and million dollar earner Staging. He also has a close up double of the great broodmare Rolls, joining an elite class of stallions including Danehill and Northern Taste. With his oldest progeny just two year-olds Duporth has made an encouraging start to his stud career and is running second on the leading Australian First Season Sires List by earnings.
