The margin might be narrow but the future is rosy for Transporter according to top jockey Michael Cahill.
Some observers questioned the will to win of Transporter, who was heavily backed from $3.10 into $2.70 favouritism, when he had only a nose to spare in defeating Playaction ($6.50) in Saturday's Channel Seven Handicap (1800m) at Eagle Farm.
But Cahill defended the gelding's performance and believes he is still on a learning curve.
"He has a good deal of ability and although he didn't win by much he gives himself every chance because he's so relaxed," he said.
"At the moment he only does what he has to and isn't putting them away but he's still quite lightly raced with a bit to learn.
"The positive thing is that he's putting wins back-to-back and racing consistently."
Brett Killion, stable manager for Patinack Farm, said Transporter wasn't helping his cause with his wayward racing manners.
"When he gets to the front he wants to lay in and do a few things wrong which shows he's still got a lot to learn," Killion said.
"What's in his favour is that he's adaptable and he does relax which is a big asset to have."
Meanwhile, Platinum State might have earned a shot at the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas after his runaway win in the Timeform Handicap (1600m).
"He'll be in the paddock on Monday and if I'm happy with the way he looks after a freshen up he'll probably head to the Magic Millions," trainer Bryan Guy said.
"The 1400m might be a bit nippy but he's really come of age this campaign."
Ridden confidently by apprentice Kirk Matheson, Platinum State ($3.40) was untroubled to win by 1-1/2 lengths from Purringa ($3.20) with Antarctic Dream ($1.80 fav) a long neck away third.
