Both horses look much better suited to longer journeys than sprints at Gosford but SEQUENCE and ADORABEEL returned with emphatic wins Thurs.
The former, a 3yo filly who'd had only one previous start over a year ago, showed a nice turn of foot to dispose of her rivals in the 1100m Mdn for females. A 110k purchase from Lyndhurst Farm at the 2012 Karaka Sales, SEQUENCE has had a few issues that have limited her race career to just two starts as a rising 4yo. She looks destined for higher honours than maiden company and being by SAVABEEL is bound to improve with age. Jockey Blake Shinn said she travelled and gave a good kick when asked.
ADORABEEL, a 4yo mare by the same sire secured at Karaka 2011 for 70k from Windsor Park by Steve Brem for PROVEN THOROUGHBREDS, returned from a letup with a strong win in the B65 of 1200m. Jeff Penza who'd ridden her to success at Hbry back in FEB again settled her off the pace and despite her customary tendency to hang in, found the line to score by more than a length. Trainer Guy Walter has no fancy targets in mind for both SAVABEEL'S other than to keep winning!
Another PROVEN galloper, DESTINED TO WIN debuted with an even run for 4th in the 1100m Mdn for colts and geldings. Closely related to the former handy PROVEN galloper HARDBREAK HOTEL, Guy believes the 3yo needs a lot longer to show his best. Our other runner Thurs was WANT FOR NOTHING, who was beaten less than a length when running 4th at the Gold Coast.
