Michael Cahill has given his seal of approval for a Summer Cup start for in-form mare Poste Restante.

The Group Three Summer Cup at Rosehill on Boxing Day has been named by trainer Desleigh Forster as the goal for Poste Restante after she carried 58kg to an easy win at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

Cahill believes the Summer Cup is an ideal target for Poste Restante.

"She performed well in good company during the winter so I think a race like Summer Cup over a mile-and-a-half should be perfect," Cahill said.

"I could've ridden her on a piece of cotton today because she switched off and relaxed so well."

While Poste Restante settled in second last place, Cahill was confident the mare would overhaul her rivals.

"I just had to bide my time and I let her come into the bridle about the 550 (metre-mark) and she did the rest," he said.

"She had them covered pretty quickly. It was quite a soft win, but still a good win with the weight in conditions that probably weren't ideal."

Forster wasn't overly concerned when the track was downgraded to well into the slow range before the first race when a savage storm lashed Eagle Farm, dumping 28mm of rain in 20 minutes.

"The rain came that suddenly I thought it would run off quickly but she's a class act this mare and I thought she'd handle the going OK," Forster said.

Poste Restante will have one more start in Brisbane before the Summer Cup.

"There's a Class Six Plate over 2100 metres here in two weeks and she'll get into the Summer Cup with no weight," Forster said.

Meanwhile, the judgment of trainer Don Baker was vindicated when Jet Style won the Brisbane Handicap.

"Don was going to run him in the Roma Cup today but when he saw how big the nominations were for that race he felt this would be a better option," part-owner Damien Sutton said.

Jet Style was bought for only $3500 as a "pub horse" for a syndicate of regulars at the Royal Hotel at Guyra.

"Whenever he races all the locals, even the Irish backpackers, turn up at the pub to back him and give him a cheer," Sutton said.

"I can guarantee they'll be celebrating into the early hours."
