Unchain My Heart heads to Flemington on Saturday to chase a second Andrew Ramsden Stakes success in what could be her racetrack swan song.
Last year's winner of the Listed 3200-metre event will head to Queensland to be auctioned at a broodmare sale at the Gold Coast next week.
"It could be (her last start) if a breeder buys her," trainer David Hayes said.
"It depends who buys her. But she's quite sound and a good, competitive mare."
Unchain My Heart, winner of nine of her 51 starts, has claimed her two biggest wins at Flemington in last year's Andrew Ramsden Stakes and the 2012 Bagot Handicap (2800m) at Listed level.
The seven-year-old was beaten a nose over 2600m at the track on April 25 before a last-start fourth behind a trio of Andrew Ramsden Stakes rivals over 2800m.
Hayes is convinced the daughter of Al Maher is going every bit as well as she was leading into last year's event.
"I think her two lead-ups have been great, she's a very good horse at Flemington and she runs the two miles," Hayes said.
"It's a pretty good edition of the Andrew Ramsden this year. I think it's a pretty competitive race but she's in great order.
"She has been set for it and I thought last start she got too far back and ran home well."
Last year's runner-up Wells is also back for another crack at the off-season staying race before embarking on a jumps campaign.
He turned in his best run of the campaign last start when third behind Andrew Ramsden Stakes favourite Ancient King and Shoreham with Unchain My Heart fourth.
