A jockey shortage has paved the way for Christian Reith to extend his riding stint in Hong Kong until the end of their racing season.
The top Sydney jockey had planned to ride at three meetings there from June 1 but on Thursday the Hong Kong Jockey Club granted Reith a licence to stay on until the end of the term which finishes on July 6.
The recent return of Tye Angland to Sydney and injuries to several riders opened the door for Reith's extended stay as the Jockey Club looked to prevent a shortfall of riders.
Mark Du Pleiss has also been granted a Hong Kong jockeys' licence until the end of the season and will begin his stint on June 15.
Reith will ride at Rosehill on Saturday before heading to Hong Kong for Sunday's program at Sha Tin.
His Rosehill mounts include early favourite Cradle Me in the Instagram@ATC_Races Handicap and Keep Cool in the Eremein Handicap.
