Joe Pride is hoping his team of Rosehill runners stretch out better than he has this week.
The Warwick Farm trainer has been on restricted duties after undergoing a knee operation on Monday and is likely to be forced to watch his runners compete from his lounge room.
"I was hoping to get to Rosehill but I don't know if I'll be able to. I can't put my foot on the ground yet," Pride said.
Despite the discomfort of their trainer, Pride's horses are shaping up well.
Although he has had to scratch Ball Of Muscle, a half brother to stakes performers Tiger Tees and Terravista, from the McGrath Estate Agents Handicap (1200m) Pride has a strong hand in the Eremein Handicap (1800m) with recent acquisition Keep Cool.
Formerly trained in Victoria, the seven-year-old is owned by Nick Moraitis who has sent a number of older horses to Pride to rejuvenate their racing careers, none with more success than Vision And Power who went on to win two Group One races.
Keep Cool finished third in the Hawkesbury Cup at his first start for Pride and a similar performance on Saturday would make him hard to beat.
"He is quite a good track worker and his work has been pretty sharp. I'm pretty confident he can run as well as he did at Hawkesbury," Pride said.
Earnest Ernest and Sir Berus will clash in the Instagram@ATC_Races Handicap (1200m).
