Chris Waller will have a strong hand in Queensland's premier race day but Moriarty is unlikely to defend his Brisbane Cup win.
Waller will have runners in Saturday's three Group One races at Eagle Farm with Brazen Beau favourite for the J J Atkins, Vilanova the top pick for the Queensland Derby and Red Tracer a confirmed Stradbroke Handicap starter.
But Waller, who trained five winners on his home track at Rosehill on Saturday, believes after Moriarty's win in the Eagle Farm Cup he is likely to get too much weight in the Group Two Brisbane Cup (2400m).
"I will see what weight he gets but we are not committed to the Brisbane Cup," Waller said.
"I won't run him unless I'm certain he can win.
"He got a good track on Saturday for the first time in a while and he needs that.
"Maybe he goes for a spell and we get him ready for weight-for-age races in the spring."
Waller has no concerns with two-year-old Brazen Beau who has retained favouritism for the season's final juvenile Group One despite being beaten by Atkins rival Time For War in the BRC Sires' Produce.
Brazen Beau missed the start and failed by just a neck to reel in the front running Time For War.
"He is a bomb-proof horse and I have no concerns with him at the 1600 metres," Waller said.
"He came through his last run well and had a good gallop at the Gold Coast on Saturday morning."
Two barrier trial wins have convinced Waller Red Tracer can bounce back to the Group One winners' list after a mixed Sydney autumn.
After her third to Appearance in the Canterbury Stakes, the mare put in a disappointing performance when unplaced in the George Ryder.
She has not raced since finishing third to Diamond Drille in the Queen Of The Turf in which her stablemate Catkins was sixth.
"Red Tracer will go to the Stradbroke and Catkins will run in the Dane Ripper Stakes," Waller said.
"Then they both head to the Tatt's Tiara two weeks later."
