Youthful Jack after more Tasmanian riches

Tuesday 20 November 2012, 4:58pm

Evergreen sprinter Youthful Jack will return to Tasmania this summer to defend his wins in the state's three weight-for-age sprints.

Trained by Ross Stitt at Taree, Youthful Jack will again be transferred to Tasmania's Adam Trinder for his campaign.

The seven-year-old is the winner of 16 races and is closing in on the $1 million prize money milestone.

Youthful Jack cruised to an easy barrier trial win at his home track at Taree on Monday and will resume at Warwick Farm on December 1.

He will have one more run after that in Sydney, again at Warwick Farm on December 22 in the Listed Razor Sharp (1200m) before travelling to Tasmania in the first week of January.

The races he will contest are the $90,000 Tattsbet.com (1200m) at Launceston on January 23, the $100,000 Thomas Lyons Stakes (1400m) at Hobart on Cup day, February 10 and the $100,000 George Adams (1600m) on Launceston Cup day, February 27.

Stitt said he was pleased with Youthful Jack who was rested after he finished fourth under 60kg in the Coffs Harbour Cup in August and said he was happy to hand him over to Trinder.

"Adam did a first-class job with him last time and I can't afford the time to be away in Tasmania," Stitt said.

"I have too many horses here to look after.

"I am really pleased with the way the horse spelled and that trial will do him the world of good."
