Angel Of Mercy has given her former owners a big return and trainer Gerald Ryan hopes the mare can do the same for Katsumi Yoshida in the Tattersall's Tiara.
The Japanese racing and breeding supremo bought the five-year-old at the recent National Broodmare Sale and sent her back to Ryan for what will probably be her final racetrack appearance on Saturday.
A $180,000 yearling, Angel Of Mercy gave her previous owners a million-dollar return, earning more than $430,000 prize money on the track and $575,000 in the sale ring.
Just before being sold, Angel Of Mercy claimed an opportune Group Three win in the Lord Mayor's Cup (1615m) at Doomben on May 24.
Ryan said the four weeks between runs was of no concern and he was looking forward to saddling her up for Yoshida, owner of 2006 Melbourne Cup winner Delta Blues.
Her opposition will include Group One winners Driefontein, Cosmic Endeavour, Steps In Time and last year's winner Red Tracer but emerging filly Srikandi will be missing after pulling up sore from a gallop on Tuesday.
"She is a mare who goes really well fresh," Ryan said.
"The weather is a factor with her so I don't want rain.
"But she has thrived in the Queensland sun and the month between runs won't worry her.
"I'm looking forward to her running for Shadai Farm and Mr Yoshida."
Ryan has an enviable record in the race, winning it with Blushing Bijou in 1992 when it was the Listed Winter Stakes, in 2003 with Mon Mekki when it was at Group Two level and as a Group One race in 2010 with Melito.
Group One winners Mosheen and Southern Speed are among the mares Yoshida has bought over the past few years and taken back to his Northern Farm in Japan for stud duties.
