Trainer Chris Waller had no luck in Brisbane on Saturday but kept the momentum going in Sydney to edge closer to his own metropolitan winners' record.
Waller went north to oversee his runners in the final Group One race of the season, the Tattersall's Tiara at Eagle Farm, with Catkins' fourth placing the best of his trio.
Last season, Waller set the Sydney mark of 167-1/2 and after his four winners at Randwick he sits on 141-1/2 with 11 meetings remaining.
Tye Angland, who recently returned to Sydney after three years in Hong Kong, continued his homecoming with three winners - Delectation, Kristy Lee and You'll Never - for the premier trainer with apprentice Serg Lisnyy getting Black Jag home.
For Angland, being associated with the premier trainer so soon after his return, is a bonus.
"Chris Waller has given me good rides today and it is a big help," Angland said.
"I go to Rosehill to ride work one day a week. I need to show my face to keep it going."
Angland said he had noticed a difference since he had been away.
"There are a lot of different jockeys and when I came back I didn't know half of them," he said.
"It's a different pool of riders and I have to get used to the way they ride.
"But things are going well."
Lisnyy racked up a winning double with his victory aboard the Luke Griffith-trained Texan Lad.
While Waller has a team of around 120, former Randwick trainer Tim Donnelly only has room for between eight and 10 at his Wagga Wagga stable.
But he only needed one for a successful homecoming with Jo Jo Girl ($26) scoring an upset win in the staying race on the program, the TAB Quaddie (2590m).
The Group One-winning trainer left Sydney for Wagga Wagga a decade ago and admitted he got lost when he returned.
"I had no idea where to go," he said.
Donnelly found his way to the winner's stall along with James Tait, a member of the famous Tait racing family and a part-owner of Jo Jo Girl.
"We bought her as a tried horse for $3,500 plus GST," Tait said.
Jo Jo Girl has won six races for Donnelly and more than $113,000 for her owners.
The Winter Dash (1200m) featured a quinella by two horses formerly trained by Darren Smith when the Gerald Ryan-trained Oakfield Commands beat Testarhythm from the Ben Smith stable.
Smith has been denied nominations and his horses have been transferred pending an inquiry into the administration of the banned substance cobalt to horses in his care.
