The most expensive yearling filly ever sold when purchased for 5 million guineas at the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale last year, Al Naamah made a winning debut overnight at Chantilly in France.
A full sister to Group I Epsom Oaks winner Was, by Galileo from Alluring Park, the Andre Fabre trained Al Naamah opened her account with a smooth two length victory in the seven furlong maiden.
Bought by Al Shaqab Racing from the Lodge Park draft, Al Naamah runs for Sheikh Joaan Bin Hamad Al Thani.
"She did it very easily, she wouldn't blow a candle out," said Sheikh Joaan's racing advisor Harry Herbert.
"Andre [Fabre, trainer] likes her a lot and she has shown today that she could be very special. She is a beautiful specimen with a fantastic pedigree and she has her whole racing career ahead of her."
A three-quarter sister in blood to English Derby hero and successful sire New Approach, Al Naamah is the fifth winner for Alluring Park, who is a half-sister New Approach (also by Galileo) from Group I winner Park Express.
