A suspension will cost Blake Shinn the opportunity to play his role as stable jockey when a significant era in Sydney racing comes to an end next month.
Shinn was suspended for 10 meetings at Canterbury on Wednesday and he will start his ban after riding at Rosehill on Saturday.
The Melbourne Cup-winning jockey will be out of the saddle until July 18, ruling him out of riding for trainer Wendy Walter as she prepares to close the Warwick Farm stable of her late husband Guy.
With the help of Shinn and sidelined jockey Peter Robl, Wendy Walter has continued to train the stable's string of racehorses since her husband's death last month.
But she will hand in her licence after racing at Rosehill on Saturday week.
Shinn formed a highly successful association with Guy Walter and rode the last of the trainer's 36 Group One winners when Streama took out the Doomben Cup on May 17.
Stewards found Shinn guilty of causing interference in the Mossman @ Vinery Handicap (1550m).
They suspended him for seven meetings but the penalty was increased by a 50 per cent loading because of his poor record during the past 12 months.
