Under-rated mare Lanieri confirmed she could be among the best of prolific broodmare Belle Salieri's offspring with a dynamic effort at Doomben on Wednesday.

Lanieri ($2.60) appeared to have plenty in reserve when she ran a fast 1:09.55 to win the Glenlogan Park Stud Hcp (1200m).

Belle Salieri was raced by veteran owner Jack O'Hagan who has been leading in winners in the Brisbane area since the late 1940s.

"I had a bit of luck with Belle Salieri and she won six races through to open company for me but she has been even better as a broodmare," O'Hagan said.

"The best of them was Roman Squire who could have been anything but got sick in Melbourne."

Trainer Lindsay Gough said Lanieri had taken time to mature but was ready to show her best as a four-year-old.

"She's been her own enemy but you can see what she can do," said Gough, who indicated Lanieri could head to a Saturday fillies and mares race at her next start.

The addition of blinkers has done wonders for Lewaulo ($3.20) who led all the way to win the www.brc.com.au Hcp (1350m).

Trainer Kelly Doughty and her husband Gary are among a group of owners who race Lewaulo on lease from breeder Jan Clark.

"He is related to another handy horse of ours called In A Storm but didn't go through a sales ring because he was injured. We have had blinkers on him for three starts and he has won two of them," Kelly Doughty said.

Meanwhile, trainer Matt Dunn was left deflated when promising two-year-old Red Bowers ($1.35) was beaten a short half-head by Chariot Of Gold ($5) in the Ascend Sales Maiden Hcp (1110m).

Jockey Chris Munce used aggressive tactics on Chariot Of Gold who attacked Red Bowers most of the way before getting a winning bob in on the line.

However, Dunn was happier when Write Cheek ($3.20) stormed home to win the Coke Zero Hcp (1200m).

"I thought Write Cheek might still be a bit soft but she really got home today. I still can't believe Red Bowers got beaten but that is racing," Dunn said.

The victory by Write Cheek took Dunn to 46 winners on the Brisbane trainers' premiership, second behind Tony Gollan on 53.
