Duggan appeals penalty

Thursday 22 November 2012, 2:35pm

Leading apprentice Jenny Duggan has lodged an appeal against a one-month suspension for her handling of a horse at Kembla Grange.

Stewards issued the suspension to Duggan on Tuesday for her effort aboard Lady Lonhro, who finished sixth in a race at Kembla on October 13.

Duggan was charged with failing to take all reasonable and permissible measures throughout the race to give Lady Lonhro the best chance of winning or finishing in the best possible position.

Duggan will ride at Rosehill on Saturday before beginning a separate careless riding suspension that expires on December 6.

From that date, she has been granted a stay of proceedings until her appeal against the running and handling charge can be heard.
