Rejuvenated galloper Alma's Fury will be rewarded for his Brisbane winter form with a multiple Group One mission this spring.
Earlier this year, Alma's Fury was transferred from Kembla Grange trainer Paul Murray to Tony Gollan at Eagle Farm and has bloomed in the Queensland sunshine.
The six-year-old gelding had three starts during the winter, recording Listed wins in the Eye Liner Stakes and the Glasshouse Mountains Handicap.
Gollan said he understood the horse was to remain with him and he would be campaigning Alma's Fury in the Melbourne spring.
"Alma's Fury is in the spelling paddock for a couple of weeks. He only had a short campaign this time so we will freshen him up and give him some exercise on the water walker," Gollan said.
"He is going to be hard to place in Brisbane for a while. His rating has gone right back up again and if I ran him in Saturday's Tatt's Mile he would get 61 kilograms."
"Even I couldn't whinge about that weight but not many horses can win with it," Gollan said.
Alma's Fury is likely to resume in the Bobbie Lewis Handicap at Flemington on September 13 and then press on to the Group One Rupert Clarke Stakes and the Group One Toorak Handicap.
"I think he is up to that class of horse and he is going to get into those races with 53 or 54 kilograms," Gollan said.
"He is a Group Two winner in Sydney and I think he is racing as well as ever.
"Horses which race well in our winter seem to always race well in Melbourne during the spring. There is no reason Alma's Fury should be any different."
Alma's Fury's stablemate, improved stayer Brave Ali, will run in Thursday's Grafton Cup before going for a spell.
Brave Ali has won two Listed races over the Brisbane carnival and finished second to Brayroan in the Caloundra Cup.
