New Zealand visitor Ringo is likely provide connections with a happy problem if he wins Saturday's Listed Winter Championship Final at Flemington.
Ringo is in Victoria to chase the $150,000 prize money available in the Flemington feature but trainer Mike Breslin says connections will have a decision to make after the race.
Ringo will have had three runs back from a spell once he competes in the Winter Championship Final and Breslin will have plenty of options with the rising five-year-old.
"He could come back here (to New Zealand) and run in good races early in the season," Breslin said.
"He could also stay in Australia and run in Melbourne again but he could also go for a break and come back for the Sydney autumn next year but that would be a long-range plan."
Ringo proved he was capable of winning the Winter Championship Final with his solid second in the sixth heat of the series at Flemington on June 28.
The Fastnet Rock gelding fell just short of beating Akavoroun, which is likely to start among the favourites for the final.
Breslin is convinced Ringo can make the necessary improvement to reverse his last-start result, especially with the aid of a 1.5kg weight swing.
"He was a bit above himself first-up and raced a bit fresh," Breslin said.
"That may have just caused him to peak on his run late in the race but he's definitely got the improvement in him."
Ringo has stayed at Mick Price's Caulfield stable in close proximity to another three of his Winter Championship rivals Eximius, Dany The Fox and Fast And Free.
Fast And Free defeated his Price-trained stablemates when he claimed the seventh heat of the series at Cranbourne with Dany The Fox and Eximius third and fourth respectively.
Dwayne Dunn will partner Ringo after riding him last time while Fast And Free's connections have stuck with apprentice Jackie Beriman.
Price has booked Dean Yendall to ride Dany The Fox while Daniel Moor has the mount on Eximius.
