Central Queensland star Vandalised can put himself in elite company if he can score his 10th win for the season in the Tattersall's Mile at Doomben on Saturday.
Vandalised has won nine races since last October, more than any horse in Australia this season and another victory would assure him of the title of Australia's most prolific-winning racehorse for 2013-14.
The Queensland record for wins in a season is 21 held by Picnic In The Park in 1984-85.
Vandalised will be heading to the big smoke after a slashing win in the $100,000 Rockhampton Cup (1600m) on June 21.
It was his fourth win in a row in Rockhampton and his third consecutive win at 1600m - the distance of Saturday's race.
Connections are at the crossroads with Vandalised because he will get big weights in provincial racing following his recent efforts.
Vandalised has ventured to Brisbane only once before when fourth at Eagle Farm in April.
Trainer Jamie McConachy said it was that run that convinced him Vandalised was up to Brisbane class.
"He had 59 kilos that day and had no luck in the run," McConachy said.
"We took him home and let him have a little break and then he was able to win three in a row at home."
McConachy believes the Tattersall's Mile will give him a real guide to Vandalised's long-term future.
"He has a few things in his favour on Saturday. He is down in the weights from his last Brisbane visit and he is nicely drawn," he said.
"Also he seems to be racing very well at the 1600 metres. But I realise there are some very handy horses in the field so it will be a good test.
"He will probably have a few more starts after a break but in the long-term he might be a Brisbane summer horse for races such as the Bernborough Handicap."
Jockey Brad Stewart will aim to continue his excellent association with Vandalised having already won six races on the gelding.
Vandalised was originally trained by John Sadler and Robert Smerdon in Victoria before being bought by clients of McConachy for about $25,000.
Since then Vandalised has earned more than $150,000 in stakes.
