Ladies Are Forever has won the Summer Stakes at York for the third time in four years, beating Frankel's sister Joyeuse.
It was an emotional win for her Reg Bond has been in ill health and made his first appearance on a racecourse for a year.
Kept in training as a six-year-old, the 7-2 chance shared favouritism along with Joyeuse.
It was the market leaders who dominated the finish, with Ladies Are Forever getting the nod by a head over the Lady Cecil-trained Joyeuse.
"This is great for Reg, he hasn't been racing since this day last year," trainer Geoff Oldroyd said.
"He's had a tumour, which thankfully seems to have shrivelled up, he broke his arm in three places and then got pneumonia twice while he was in hospital."
"The only year she (Ladies Are Forever) didn't win this was when we gave her a wind op and she didn't run.
"Her mother (Forever Bond) is in foal to Frankel and maybe one day she might be herself.
"Reg is such a great owner, he's backed me all along and never bothers me, I have unraced four-year-olds at home but he says 'if they need time give them it'."
