Trainer Matt Dunn was cautious about the future despite moving into the bracket of top 10 trainers for Australia-wide winners with his 97th success for the season on Wednesday.
The victory by Harmonized Feeling in the Canadian Club Hcp (1300m) at Eagle Farm was his 49th in the city this term, making him a clear second to Tony Gollan (56) on the Brisbane trainers' premiership.
It also moved him into tenth place on the national trainers' premiership, just ahead of David Hayes.
"It has been a good year and I would never have dreamed at the start of the season we could get near to 100 winners overall," Dunn said.
"It is only our second season training and I suppose the thing to be happy about is we have done it without a headline horse. I've only had one black type winner."
Dunn is also excited about the future given the stable has a lot of young horses.
"But I don't think we have the firepower to beat Tony (Gollan). He has too many good horses," Dunn said.
"I suppose the aim for next season should be to get more black type winners but I would be happy if I can keep our win strike rate around 20 per cent."
The shortage of two-year-old midweek maidens was highlighted when Gollan won an open maiden with Frilly Curtain.
Frilly Curtain and minor placegetters Whatalovelyday and Fiftyshadesdarker were all two-year-olds taking on older horses.
"There aren't a lot of two-year-old maidens so a lot of us have to run juveniles in open maidens," Gollan said.
Frilly Curtain was Gollan's eighth individual two-year-old winner this season.
Injured trainer Peter Balzen has an added reason to get back to the track after Aquator ($8) won the www.BRC.com.au Plate (1200m).
Balzen has been laid up for three months after having a knee reconstruction and his team has been handled by Nicole Tanti, the wife of former jockey Dean Tanti.
"Peter had better hurry up because Nicole is due to give birth in three weeks and he will have to take the reins back," Dean Tanti said.
