Apprentice Luke Tarrant's transformation from a troubled talent to glamour apprentice continues with his top book of rides at Eagle Farm on Saturday.
Tarrant has six mounts, four of them at single-figure odds including early favourite Jumbo Prince in the BMAG Hcp (1600m).
He has been in great form riding 59 winners overall this season and is in 10th place on the senior jockeys' premiership with 28 metropolitan winners.
It is a long way from last November when Tarrant was spending more time in the stewards' room than the winner's circle.
Tarrant racked up 10 suspensions in a little over a year and stewards were looking at sending him back to provincial racing for an extended period.
Racing Queensland's apprentice liaison officer Shane Scriven said he was pleased with the way Tarrant had knuckled down this year.
"He really is trying hard after all of his troubles. He got some hard punishment but he has obviously taken note," Scriven said.
"If Luke keeps going this way the world is his oyster."
Tarrant said he was pleased with his form and felt confident going into Saturday's meeting.
"In particular, I am looking forward to riding Phelan Ready in the open race. It is just a thrill to ride a Golden Slipper winner," Tarrant said.
"I know he hasn't won in a long time but we only have 52kg on Saturday."
Phelan Ready hasn't won since the 2009 Golden Slipper but trainer Jason McLachlan is hoping a drop in weight and class on Saturday will turn the tide.
Tarrant's other rides include Miss Stash in the Meteors Netball Hcp (1000m), Dodging Eddie in the Andersens Flooring Hcp (2112m) and Freton in the Austral Volkswagon Hcp (1600m).
