Apprentice Luke Tarrant called on an old association with trainer Michael Nolan to land his first metropolitan treble on Saturday.
Tarrant won the first three races at Eagle Farm, including victories on the Nolan-trained Dodging Eddie ($13) and Jumbo Prince ($3.50).
Nolan booked Tarrant for his two runners after another apprentice Ruby Ride was suspended but the pair have a long-standing association.
"Luke started off in Toowoomba and he rode a lot of winners for me," Nolan said.
Tarrant has worked hard to re-establish himself and his treble took his city tally to 31 winners for the season.
"That was my first city Saturday treble. I am enjoying riding and I just have to stay focused," he said.
Nolan has big wraps on Jumbo Prince who made it four wins from nine starts as a two year old in the BMAG Handicap (1600m).
"He will go for a spell now and come back for the summer three-year-old races. I think once he gets to 2000 metres he will be extra handy and he might even measure up to the next winter carnival," Nolan said.
Dodging Eddie will stay in work after winning the Andersens Flooring Handicap (2100m).
"It was a good run today because he was coming back from the 3200 metres of the Queensland Cup. He will run in another 2100-metre race in two weeks time," Nolan said.
Meanwhile, trainer Jenny Fraser was rewarded for her patience with Miss Stash who won the Meteors Netball Handicap (1000m).
Miss Stash was originally bought for $13,500 as a weanling but kicked a bucket on her way to the yearling sales and broke a pedal bone.
"Since then she has had every thing you can name go wrong including plant poisoning. So we never look to far head with her," Fraser said of the now five-year-old mare.
