The strong winds in Victoria prompted racing officials to abandon the meeting at Sale on Thursday due to safety concerns.
Racing Victoria stewards felt the stability of the starting stalls could be compromised in the windy conditions, posing a hazard for jockeys, horses and barrier attendants.
"RV stewards made the decision to abandon the meeting prior to the first race following an inspection of the starting barriers which identified the high winds were affecting the structure's stability," a Racing Victoria release said.
Options to try to stabilise the barriers were considered but dismissed.
