Exciting sprinter Lord Of The Sky is in doubt for his Moonee Valley assignment on Saturday.
Bookmakers have Lord Of The Sky odds-on favourite to win the United Refrigeration Handicap (1000m) despite his failure at Caulfield a week ago.
Trainer Robbie Laing said the four-year-old was not 100 per cent right on Friday morning and had been given antibiotics.
"His blood count is just a little bit off," Laing said.
Laing said he entered Lord Of The Sky in Saturday's Moonee Valley contest to fill in a three-week break between his unplaced run in last Saturday's Group Three Bletchingly Stakes (1200m) and the Group Two PB Lawrence Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield.
The Cranbourne trainer said he would trial Lord Of The Sky in the lead-up to the Lawrence Stakes if he decided not to send the Monash Stakes winner around at Moonee Valley.
The race has already been reduced to six runners with the scratchings of Zamorar and Fab Fevola, one of the few horses in Victoria capable of matching Lord Of The Sky's early speed.
Trainer Dean Binaisse will save Fab Fevola for a Rating 90 race down the straight at Flemington on Saturday week.
