Cantonese and Moriarty could return to do battle again in the Frank Underwood Cup at Warwick Farm seven days after their last clash.

Cantonese got the better of Moriarty at Rosehill on Saturday, beating him by 1-1/4 lengths over 2000m, and his trainer Bjorn Baker will nominate for the Listed Frank Underwood (2200m).

The gelding has been the flag bearer for Baker so far this season with five wins from seven starts since joining the stable.

"I'll nominate him for Saturday and see how he is this week," Baker said.

"So far he has exceeded my expectations."

Working against the quick back-up will be the absence of apprentice Jenny Duggan who has developed an affinity with the gelding, steering him to his five recent wins.

Duggan, who is leading the Sydney apprentices premiership, has begun a careless riding suspension which will keep her out of Saturday's race.

The Chris Waller-trained Moriarty won three races in succession in September-October, backing up eight days after the first of those on on September 23.

After a short break he has run second at his past two starts on consecutive Saturdays.

"Moriarty could back up," Waller said.

"It would be his third run in three weeks so he will be fit.

"I'll take a look at the nominations. He's still going through his grades but if it looks like being a weak race then we could give him his chance."

The Frank Underwood is a lead-up to the Christmas Cup on December 15 and the Summer Cup on Boxing Day, both over 2400 metres.

Cantonese hasn't been tested over that distance but has a 2200m victory to his credit while Moriarty failed at his only attempt at 2400 over 2200 metres as a three-year-old in England last year.
