Peter Moody has been confirmed as the new trainer for speedy mare Karuta Queen who will be aimed at some of the feature Melbourne sprints.

Formerly prepared by Neville Layt, Karuta Queen has won six of her 15 starts and more than $1.7 million prizemoney.

She was passed in at the Magic Millions broodmare sale earlier this year before high-profile owner-breeder John Singleton struck a private deal to purchase her with her original owners, Glenn and Viive Williams, retaining an interest.

Duncan Grimley, racing manager for Singleton, confirmed Karuta Queen would do her future racing for Melbourne's leading trainer.

"Basically we think the timing and the races that are on offer down in Melbourne for her suits her campaign at this stage, better than Sydney would," Grimley said on Sydney's Sky Sports radio.

"We were trying to get her to the Magic Millions races but that has been impossible given the injury she's had so we'll send her to Peter and he will get her ready for the Rubiton (Stakes) and the Oakleigh Plate to begin with, and we'll go from there."

Karuta Queen won hearts with her brave second to champion and soon-to-be stablemate Black Caviar in last year's Schillaci Stakes at Caulfield.

She has not raced since finishing down the track in Listed company at Rosehill in March.

A knee problem was subsequently discovered and with that mended, connections are optimistic about her future.

Grimley also confirmed outstanding mare More Joyous was likely to follow the same autumn program as this year, pending the handicapper's assessment of her in the Doncaster Mile.

More Joyous went through the Sydney carnival undefeated with three of her four wins coming at Group One level.

"She will probably have the same campaign that she had last year depending on what weight she gets in the Doncaster," Grimley said.
