It's taken Jester's Girl until almost the end of her career to score a stakes win and she will be given the chance to make it two before motherhood beckons.
The four-year-old mare, who is in foal to Magic Albert, added valuable black type to her pedigree with victory in the Listed Travel Associates Classic at Eagle Farm on Saturday.
Trainer Gerald Ryan said she would return to Eagle Farm on December 15 for the Listed Just Now Quality (1300m)
Although it is not commonplace nowadays for pregnant mares to race, Ryan says they are a delight to train.
"The hormones kick in and they settle down, eat well and train well," Ryan said.
"I haven't had a lot to do with them but I did train one called Green Diamond and she won a Queensland Cup and that was over two miles.
"Jester's Girl has come through the race well and she will go on to the 1300 metre race on Saturday week."
Jester's Girl is raced by her breeder Dean Fleming and is by Commands out of How Funny, runner-up in 2003 Magic Millions and Golden Slipper.
Jester's Girl's stablemate Angel Of Mercy will be given the chance to extend her campaign when she races in the Listed Festival Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill on Saturday.
Luckless in three starts this preparation, Angel Of Mercy's most recent effort was a 1-1/2 lengths fifth in the Listed Summoned Stakes at Sandown won by Cabernet.
Ryan has brought her back home to Sydney hoping to turn things around.
"She has had three runs this prep with no luck at all," Ryan said.
"She never got a crack at them at Sandown.
"We'll put her in the Festival Stakes and hope she can show what she can do.
"She's going well and deserves a change of luck and Blake Shinn will ride her."
