Q) Why did we buy him ?

A) That's easy to answer !

Pedigree: Before the sale: When researching which lots to inspect prior to the sales we look for certain genetic factors that increase the chance of the yearling being a superior athlete. This pedigree had certain ancestor duplications which we are seeking, to give what we consider a balanced blend of speed and endurance. This colt represented that and was rated our A SUPERB PROSPECT IN THIS SALE !

Conformation: He is an excellent looking individual with very good conformation. He's athletic, is a terrific walking colt, very purposeful and strong and tracks truly. Importantly he has a good overstep, stands over good ground; has a good length of reign, good angulations to pasterns and shoulders. He has good width of jaw, a deep girth and strong hindquarter.

Veterinarian: Our veterinarian inspected the colt prior to purchase and believed him to be a quality individual and an outstanding chance. After purchase, an endoscopic test on the horse's airway was performed and found to have normal function. X-Rays of knees and front fetlocks were examined with no abnormal findings noted

Fair Market Value: Considering this superior genetic pedigree, the commercial value of the family, excellent athletic conformation and overall strength, We rated the colt as an "A" purchase. We set a strict ceiling price on this horse and were quite prepared to bid up to our limit to secure him.

I valued the colt at $40,000 (+ GST) +,+, (plus 2 bids up to $50,000). How ? - The fact that his progeny had a median price of averaged $45,000 at the Major Sales in 2009. The 2006 Service Fee of $24,750. We valued this horse on conformation and pedigree at 2.5 times service fee. That equals $61,875 then we deducted a 33% discount for the winter sale's status and current economy factors. This creates a price of $41,456 and we were prepared to pay our ceiling price of $50,000. I believe we secured a quality individual at correct market value and he represented exceptional value at this price in 2009 especially considering the success the sire is enjoying.

In summary : A superb colt with a good pedigree rating score by the leading first crop sire from a running family and from a mare to produce 5 to race - 5 winners. His second dam produced 10 winners and his third dam produced 12 winners. Therefore his direct broodmare line has produced 32 foals to race = a massive 27 winners & 4 placed.

PEDIGREE RATING SCORE:

* A , 234%

* Already 2 Stakes Winners bred on this cross

* Range = "OUTSTANDING"

About Our Colt's Genetic Pedigree:

CHARGE FORWARD over TSARNISTA has created a colt bred on the proven ROBERTO x SOVIET STAR Cross. However he is also bred on the highly successful RED RANSOM x NORTHERN DANCER Cross responsible for 20 Group Winners to date.

How ?

Roberto is the sire of Red Ransom sire of Charge Forward

Soviet Star is a son of Nureyev who is a son of Northern Dancer

On our ratings they have scaled this mating as a very high performance indicator.

He is rated an "A" class mating with the chance to produce an exceptional performer Black Type level at 234%.

Bred on the highly successful and proven cross ROBERTO over SOVIET STAR this is a cross that has not been replicated often but has already produced 2 Stakes Winners to date - Mayonga and Zaham

A PROVEN NICK :

NICK = SUCCESS RATE

His Genetics - Bred to a "PROVEN NICK"

Genetically - he's bred to be outstanding. When we went to the sales we were looking first and foremost for the individual. He had to be an equine athlete. It's an incredible set of coincidence until you analyse the statistics and then the old proverb rings true again.

"The apple doesn't roll far from the tree".

So, it makes sense to

"keep drilling where oil has been found"

"keep digging where you find gold"
