Great type of colt with a pedigree that you just can't buy into very often. By the reigning sire of winners for the past three seasons in Commands, out of eight time city winner and proven Black Type producer, Patou.


CURRENT STATUS: HEADING TO THE BREAKERS! This colt will be broken in at Muskoka Farms - A facility renouned for educating up and coming young horses. The breaking process goes on for about four weeks. He will then head in to Gary Portelli's Warwick Farm stables where he will spend a week or two in light work. This will see him become accustomed to stable routine, and allow Portelli one on one time with the colt in order to set out his next steps. (24/3)


Patou, much like Commands, she has done her best work in the breeding barn. She has had eight foals to race for seven winners, with four of her foals going on to gain Black Type status. Her most notable performer is G1 Golden Slipper winner Polar Success, who was a $32k purchase at the Magic Millions.


Patou is considered one of the best producers in the studbook, and is related to an array of current superstars. The likes of another star producing mare, Circles Of Gold, features prominently being an AJC Australian Oaks winner and the dam of exceptional race horses Haradasun and Elvestroem. Globetrotting dual hemisphere Group 1 winner Starspangledbanner also appears in her extended pedigree.


He passed a full pre-purchase examination which included an x-ray review, a scope report and a conformation exam. This was carried out by renowned vet Dr Brett Warren, who performs the above examinations on all of our purchases in accordance with the AVA guidelines.


He will be trained by multiple Group 1 winning city trainer Gary Portelli who helped secure this colt at the 2012 January Magic Millions sale. Elite Thoroughbreds will be retaining an interest in this colt.


Portelli Racing has stables in both Sydney and Melbourne. This provides a distinct 'edge' in allowing the Portelli team to take full advantage of the prize money on offer in Australia's two premier racing states. As such, this is an advantage that most trainers simply do not have!


TRAINER COMMENTS: A very neat colt. He is of medium size but has great strength through his hindquarter and gaskins. He is a nice walking, big striding horse and has a pedigree you simply cannot buy into these days.


CATALOUGE COMMENTS: Great pedigree with seven of the eight foals to race being winners. Well noting that four of the seven are Stakes horses including a Golden Slipper winner. Strong, well balanced, correct and has a very nice walk. Rates highly.


The Share Price is $6,824 per 5%. The share price is inclusive of all sale expenses and upkeep until April 2012, breaking in & education cost, Lifetime Magic Millions race nomination, initial Golden Slipper and Golden Rose race nomination, and all related registration and Racing NSW syndicate fees. Death and Mortality insurance is also included until November 2012. Average upkeep per share is $35-$40 per week over the course of the year.


Shares can be purchased in 5%, 7.5%, 10%, 15%, etc. Minimum purchase is 5%.
