CURRENTLY BREAKING IN @ MUSKOKA - UPDATE 12/6: Really nice colt, a nice athletic type, breaking in well!


A winner of the Group 1 Ascot Vale Stakes down the famous Flemington straight, Northern Meteor was a horse that was surrounded by both hype and expectation during his 3 year old career. Being a descendant of Rough Shod from the family of accomplished stallions Nureyev and Sadler's Wells, and by two time champion sire Encosta De Lago, Northern Meteor was thoroughbred royalty.


CURRENT STATUS: This colt is really flourishing in the paddock, and has impressed just about everyone that has visited the farm. Looking more and more like dad everyday, has a fantastic temperament, and importantly, Gary Portelli is particularly happy with this colt. Certainly a very exciting 3YO Magic Millions prospect. The Northern Meteor stock became 'hot property' at the Magic Millions, in particular as the sale progressed. We were fortunate to secure this outstanding individual early in the sale, with prices eventually soaring to as high as $420k.


Out of a Marscay mare who is a half sister to Listed winner Belle Grise and the Listed placed My Sweet Pamela, this colt is closely related to Group 1 winners Keltrice, Seltrice, and promising young sire Red Dazzler. This colt is bred on a similar cross to Group winners Alinghi, Aloha, Largo Lad, Palacio De Cristal, and Golden Slipper runner-up Von Costa De Hero.


Widden Stud is a name synonymous with champion sires Marscay, Vain, Bletchingly, Todman, and General Nediym. All brilliant, tough, speed oriented horses that left a legacy of greatness for generations to come. Widden Stud continue to be a leading source of Group 1 winners iwith the likes off All Silent, Whobegotyou, Happy Zero, Champagne Harmony, Poor Judge, Belong to Many, Ready to Lift, Typhoon Zed, Absolute Glam, Bon Hoffa,Triple Honour all taking some part in the Widden process.


He passed a full pre-purchase examination which included an x-ray review, a scope report and a conformation exam. This was carried out by renowned vet Dr Brett Warren, who performs the above examinations on all of our purchases in accordance with the AVA guidelines.


He will be trained by multiple Group 1 winning city trainer Gary Portelli who helped secure this colt at the 2012 January Magic Millions sale. Elite Thoroughbreds will be retaining an interest in this colt.


Portelli Racing has stables in both Sydney and Melbourne. This provides a distinct 'edge' in allowing the Portelli team to take full advantage of the prize money on offer in Australia's two premier racing states. As such, this is an advantage that most trainers simply do not have!


TRAINER COMMENTS: A strong bodied, good walking colt by a sire that I have really taken a liking to. Nice big hindquarter, strong gaskins, well grown individual.


CATALOUGE COMMENTS: A colt that was highly rated, for obvious reasons. He is athletic, well grown, and a good walker. Very strong bodied and well muscled like many of the Northerm Meteors. Out of a mare who has had three to the races, all winners.


BREEDER COMMENTS: He is a very nice colt, a great mover. Gooree Stud are currently breaking in 30 Northern Meteors and the reports are exciting.


The Share Price is $4,849 per 5%. The share price is inclusive of all sale expenses and upkeep until June 2012, breaking in & education cost, Lifetime Magic Millions race nomination, initial Golden Slipper and Golden Rose race nomination, and all related registration and Racing NSW syndicate fees. Death and Mortality insurance is also included until November 2012. Average upkeep per share is $35-$40 per week over the course of the year.


Shares can be purchased in 5%, 7.5%, 10%, 15%, etc. Minimum purchase is 5%.
