Ridden by Stephen Baster in his first winning jumpout, he jumped away well, travelled nicely throughout and while he wasn't ever tested by Baster in the run home he still narrowly won the jumpout pleasing the team immensely. He's got a real touch of quality this colt, and it has trainer Gai Waterhouse optimistic he's got a very bright future ahead.


Gai Waterhouse: "Abiding did a lovely job in his first jumpout at Flemington. Your colt jumped with the pack, establishing a good rhythm despite being forced to travel wide around the turn and found the line nicely under his own steam. Jockey Steve Baster was very pleased with the effort and made the comment, 'He was lovely, I just took him nice and quietly as it was his first go and he did it all on his own accord. The colt was relaxed throughout the effort and travelled up to the finish strongly. He's a lovely colt.' Abiding is taking shape very nicely this preparation."
