The volatile summer weather will dictate whether Hawkes Racing has a runner at Rosehill on Saturday with both Binary and Chatham House in doubt if it's wet.
The electrical storm and heavy rain which delayed the final race at Canterbury on Wednesday also struck at Rosehill where 36mm of rain fell in 24 hours, tipping the track into the heavy range.
More storms and showers are forecast, setting the platform for a Sydney Saturday meeting to be held on a rain-affected track for the first time in almost two months.
Co-trainer Michael Hawkes says the stable will need to weigh up whether to risk running rising talent Binary in the Dissident @ Newgate Farm Plate if the track is heavy.
"I'm not entirely sure yet, we've just got to wait and see what happens Saturday morning," Hawkes said.
Raced by unbeaten sprinter Deep Field's owner Alan Bell, Binary made an impressive debut with a midweek win at Canterbury last month.
His mental immaturity has prompted the stable's patient approach but Hawkes is adamant he is ready for the transition to Saturday grade.
"It's a nice race, a competitive race but it's the right race at this point in time," Hawkes said.
"He has definitely gone forward and trained on. He's still going to be better next time around."
Chatham House failed at her only start on soft ground and is in doubt for the Phillip Hughes Tribute pending the track rating on race day.
